With Stadler's Orion multiple-unit trains, the Matterhorn-Gotthard-Bahn (MGB) is modernising its fleet. The new trains provide the company with greater flexibility in their narrow-gauge network in the cantons of Uri, Graubünden, and Valais. On behalf of MGB, Nose designed a confident exterior and a cosy interior. The Orion trains offer passengers a significant increase in comfort and well-being, ensuring unforgettable travel experiences alongside the breathtaking mountain scenery.

The trains make a convincing impression with their innovative front design and distinctive color scheme. The appearance of the Orion multiple-unit trains exudes confidence and elegance.
Iconic Front Design
From a distance, Orion trains are easily identifiable by their distinctive front design and unique headlight concept. The striking appearance of the front cabin integrates the destination display, front window, and headlights into a cohesive design. This integration visually enlarges the front window, giving the train a distinct identity.

Livery
The bold red and white livery, prominently featuring the MGB logo, imparts an unmistakable Swiss identity to the train. The distribution of areas in colour adds a subtle sense of lightness. This effect is particularly pronounced in winter, creating a captivating impression where the train seems to glide through the snowy landscape on the tracks.

The interior design creates a cosy atmosphere. Warm wooden surfaces combined with cool seat cushions produce harmonious contrasts. A well-thought-out lighting concept ensures a friendly ambiance at any time of day. Multifunctional compartments with generous storage space make travelling with luggage and sports equipment more convenient. This ensures that we prioritise passenger comfort in train travel.
Light Ambience
The lighting concept, using a combination of indirect light sources and recessed ceiling spotlights, creates a unique and exclusive light atmosphere.

Information-Packed Tabletop
The tables at the face-to-face seating provide an attractive dual function as a surface for belongings and as a geographical information panel about the MGB route network.

Architectural Window Layout
The right-angled windows offer an unobstructed view of some of Switzerland's most spectacular rail routes. The minimalist, elegant design language continues throughout the interior, from the handrails on the seats to the luggage racks.

Seating Comfort with Style
The seats with their wooden shells significantly contribute to the cosy atmosphere of the interior. The patterns on the seat cushions, exclusively designed for MGB, subtly incorporate motifs from the surrounding rock formations, establishing a connection to the outside world. High-quality velour is used in the second class, and a combination of flat weave and leather in the first class ensures the highest level of seating comfort. The leather-covered headrests are easy to clean, always look fresh and enhance hygiene.
